Element Staffing is recruiting for a Logistics Supervisor (Shipping & Receiving) for a specialized company in the gas and laboratory services industry. This role will oversee day-to-day shipping and receiving operations with a strong focus on compliance, efficiency, and team coordination, particularly related to hazardous (HAZMAT) materials.
The Logistics Supervisor will be responsible for preparing and reviewing shipping documentation, coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, and ensuring all materials are handled in accordance with DOT and IATA regulations. This individual will also supervise a small team, communicate with carriers and drivers, and support overall warehouse and distribution activities.
This is a hands-on role that requires both operational execution and leadership, with an emphasis on maintaining compliance standards and improving logistics processes. Candidates must have prior HAZMAT training and hands-on experience shipping hazardous materials.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, including managing a small team (1–2 employees)
- Prepare and review shipping documentation including bills of lading (BOLs), SDSs, and other regulatory paperwork
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers such as FedEx, UPS, and freight providers
- Ensure full compliance with DOT, IATA, and other applicable regulations for hazardous material shipments
- Communicate with drivers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries
- Monitor inventory movement and support material flow within the facility
- Troubleshoot shipping issues and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports related to shipping, receiving, and compliance
- Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline logistics processes
- Support a safe work environment by adhering to all safety policies and procedures
Years of Experience: 3–8+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, or warehouse operations.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Direct HAZMAT shipping experience is required.
- IATA certification
- DOT certification
Education: High School Diploma required; additional certifications or training in logistics, supply chain, or hazardous materials handling preferred
Shift/Travel: Monday–Friday, 8am-5pm
Compensation: $26–$32/hr depending on experience
