Our client is a division of one of the world’s largest chemical companies with operations in oil and gas, food and beverage, construction, automotive, pharmaceuticals, and textiles.
Challenge
This client approached Element Staffing in search of a staffing solution for contract employees who would be on assignment for 5-10+ years. Their staffing model for this particular business unit was to have a portion as permanent employees and also have a certain percentage of employees as indefinite contractors. This model fits their financial needs very well, but they had concerns about the retention of their contractors, especially considering they were playing an integral role in their business operations. The existing contract staff were unhappy due to their current staffing firm’s lack of customer service, lack of communication, and overall insufficient support system. This resulted in job dissatisfaction, poor performance, and unnecessary issues for the company.
Solution
Whether a contractor is a payrolled employee or one we recruited on our own, Element Staffing provides the same level of outstanding customer service. We facilitated a seamless transition of all their contract staff to Element Staffing, taking into consideration all employee concerns, questions, current years of employment with the company, and career goals. Considering many of these employees had been on contract for several years, we were happy to negotiate a generous PTO and paid holiday schedule. We also made them eligible for our benefits program, including medical, dental, and vision insurance and matching 401(k). They went from a complicated payroll and PTO accrual process to a very easy, straightforward program of being paid weekly and receiving regular PTO balance updates. In addition to employment process improvements, Element Staffing wanted everyone to know that their jobs were important and that they played a significant role in the company’s success. We achieved this through frequent, open communication, celebration of birthdays, work anniversaries, and other special life events, and taking an active part in employee raises and bonuses.
Result
The results of our efforts were immeasurable. The current contract staff has never been happier. They all feel as if they’re a part of the company and their work is appreciated. Company management has expressed their gratitude and satisfaction with how well the contract staff are performing and are committed to the company’s goals. Element Staffing started as a payroll service for this client but is now recruiting for new positions for this division and others. The best part is that we feel as if we’re part of the family now. Element Staffing’s staff is regularly invited to company events, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other holiday celebrations.
