Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Description: Element Staffing is recruiting for a Lab Technician for a very reputable chemical company in Pasadena, TX. The Lab Technician will perform analysis on a variety of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products for quality control purposes. They will also conduct testing to support the Technical Service department. Previous experience with LIMS is preferred but not mandatory.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete product testing efficiently and safely, following all standard operating procedures – testing includes, but not exclusive to:
- Powder testing (PSD, ASG, VM, FM, etc.), blending compounds, roll mill, press, cutting (including CNC, saws, etc.), notching, thermal stability testing.
- Operating viscometer, particle size analyzers, HDT/Vicat instrumentation, Colorimeter, IZOD impact tester, extruder (fisheyes), FTIR, GC, etc.
- Conduct and evaluate results of Brabender testing (pickup, chamber, sheet, rod, etc.).
- Assist in non-routine laboratory request.
- Assist in the development of a variety of modules for the company LIMS.
- Follow all established quality, safety and environmental procedures and policies.
- Assist in maintaining lab equipment, ensuring adequate lab supply inventories, and conducting monthly checks.
- Maintain quality standards and specifications of finished product through daily inspection and product analysis.
- Ensure product classification and testing paperwork/computer entry is completed properly and clearly.
- Communicate problems to laboratory personnel and supervision.
- Perform housekeeping duties and assignments to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Provide assistance and complete other tasks when requested or when other duties are complete.
- Other duties as assigned
Years of Experience: 0-2+ years
Education:BS Chemistry or Natural Science
Shift/Travel: Monday through Friday, day shift
Compensation: $28/hr
Assignment Type: Contract, possibility of becoming permanent
