Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Job Description: Element Staffing is recruiting for an entry level Lab Technician for a very reputable contract testing company in Houston. The Lab Technician will be responsible for analysis and reporting of various products and will be responsible for conducting laboratory analysis.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials for such purposes as quality control, process control, or product development.
- Operate laboratory equipment and instruments such as FTIRs, ICPS, balance/scales,
spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, colorimeter, and other equipment. - Understand and keep current with all laboratory safety and reporting techniques.
- Test in-service lubricants for maintenance and reliability purposes for characteristics such as wear, contamination, viscosity, density, cleanliness, and degradation by-products.
- Ability to understand ASTM standards and procedures.
- Record test results on standardized forms and write reports describing procedures used.
- Maintain, clean, and calibrate laboratory equipment per the current maintenance schedule.
- Maintain all laboratory databases with new results for record keeping and report generation.
- Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
- Actively participate and maintain compliance with company HSE program and policies
- Assist with raw material stocks, inventory control, and general housekeeping
- Candidates with mechanical aptitude are preferred
- Other duties as assigned by lab manager
Years of Experience: 0-1+ years
Education: HSD, AA or Related
Shift/Travel: M-F, 1st shift (8am – 5pm)
Compensation: DOE
