Scientific Customer Support Representative
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Scientific Customer Support Representative to support a specialized laboratory environment focused on analytical and standards-based testing. This role serves as a key point of contact for customers, handling incoming inquiries, preparing technical quotes, coordinating orders, and ensuring a high level of service throughout the testing lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will combine strong customer service skills with a working knowledge of laboratory testing concepts and ASTM-based methodologies. This position is primarily office-based with close collaboration across laboratory, quality, and production teams.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries via phone and email
- Prepare accurate and timely quotes for laboratory services and products (typically within 24 hours)
- Enter, track, and manage customer orders while monitoring progress through production and delivery
- Communicate order status updates, changes, or delays to customers proactively
- Coordinate closely with laboratory, quality, production, and shipping teams to ensure accurate execution
- Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, orders, and issue resolution in CRM and internal systems
- Assist with resolving billing or invoicing questions in collaboration with finance
- Identify opportunities to support customers with additional or expanded services when appropriate
- Ensure work is completed in compliance with quality systems, ISO procedures, and internal documentation requirements
- Support internal teams by troubleshooting complex or non-standard customer requests
- Occasionally assist with basic laboratory or technical support activities as needed
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
- 1–3+ years of experience in a customer service, technical sales, or laboratory support role
- Working knowledge of laboratory testing concepts; ASTM methodology experience is strongly preferred
- Exposure to analytical techniques such as GC is highly desirable
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working with CRM systems, order tracking software, and Microsoft Office tools
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and professionally

Education:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience considered in lieu of degree
Shift/Travel:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Minimal travel (up to ~5%)
Compensation:
$25–$30 per hour, depending on experience
