JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The logistics clerk position analyzes and coordinates the logistical functions of a firm or organization;
assists in the life cycle of a product, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery and
final disposal of resources.
Essential Functions

1. Receive all material, machinery, chemicals and supplies.
2. Verify shipments against purchase orders and examine upon arrival.
3. Assist shipping and receiving unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders
to sales orders and distributing to sales associates for processing.
4. Maintain record keeping systems and mark material with part numbers, date and lot codes,
revisions, etc.
5. Develop and implement shipping and receiving procedures.
6. Operates lift trucks or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or
areas.
7. Operates the stretch wrap banders.
8. Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
9. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed
safety regulations.
10. Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be
moved, gathered or distributed and/or shipped.
11. Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
12. Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence
such as size, type, style, and color or product code.
13. Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for salespeople and customer traffic.
14. Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or relocate orders to
a holding area or shipping department.
15. Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
16. Assist in counting of physical inventory.
17. Weigh and count items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
18. Prepare parcels for mailing.
19. Sweep, dust and mop. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.
20. Wear the proper safety equipment.
